Why I Wanted Softer Keycaps

I started with a simple wish: to make keyboards feel a little softer.

Most keycaps out there felt hard, serious, and a little intimidating.
As a girl who loves gentle things, I imagined something different —
tiny companions that could sit quietly on your keyboard,
so that during long workdays or late nights,
when you look down, they make you smile — even for just a second.

I began with my hands.
Clay, soft pigments, blank keycaps — these were my tools.
I shaped little creatures with care,
baked them slowly in my home oven,
and watched each one slowly come to life.

They weren’t perfect.
Some were slightly lopsided, some colors blended in unexpected ways.
But that imperfection is what makes them alive.
It’s what makes them real.

When I shared them online, I was surprised by the response.
So many people told me they needed a little warmth like this too something gentle, playful, and healing.
It was then I realized: this was more than a hobby.
